Provost of the Delta State School of Health Sciences and Technology, Ofuoma-Ughelli, Dr. Mrs Eravweroso Congrat Odiete has disclosed that her reign and administration is to bring back thd glory of the institution in line with the purpose of establishment.
She made this revelation in her office at Ofuoma community when speaking to newsmen after her appointment as the Provost and CEO of the institution in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to her, “I want to appreciate our state Governor,Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for deeming it fit to appoint me and in replicating this appointment, we must work hard to revive the institution.
“For now there are so many things that have not been done because I am new in the office and as you can see, nearly all our students are outside for Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme, (SIWES) and by next month they will resume.
“When the students resume, we are going bring back academics excellence, just as I discussed with the Heads of Departments that we all have a strategic role to play.
“The growth of this college is not solely the responsibilities of the Provost, we have to work together in unity to achieve our collective goal on the growth of the college.
“And I am glad that stakeholders from the host community, Ofuoma, came to over to discuss the affair of the school and with their cooperation and concern about the current state of the institution indicate that we are heading to a greater heights.
“The community cannot be left aside when we are talking about this institution and their involvement in reviving is of a good advantage to them and the management team.
“As the Provost of the school, my major role is to make sure that all stakeholders are carried along, the students, staff, community, non- governmental organizations, and the local government would be involved to ensure that the school is moved from the current state to a higher level.
“It will not be a good thing that after you have been given a rousing welcome and acceptance, one would be leaving on a bad record and for that reason, I will do my best to justify the appointment and the welcome given to me on the day of my resumption.
“The state Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori gave me the privilege of serving and God and man would not be happy if I disappoint them.
“I do not want him to be disappointed rather I want him to know that he made the right choice by appointing me and for that we will do our best to move the school from where I am meeting it now as Provost to a greater height.
“Academic excellence is one of my visions, and also carrying the staff and students along, I want the staff to be free as I have their welfare in mind as I will ensure they are well cared for.
“If staff are not happy they will not put in their best but I will make sure their efforts is appreciated, it might not be momentarily but words of appreciation would motivate them.
“I sued for their cooperation to make sure that my dreams and vision for the college are accomplished and achieved and for the students, when they resume, is will make them know that I am not only for the staff but for them too.
